Project Overview

TEC Services was engaged as the Managing Contractor for the refurbishment of accommodation rooms within the Gudai Darri Construction Village, operated by Rio Tinto. The project was initiated to improve the quality, comfort, and functionality of resident living spaces, with a focus on modernising the rooms to better support the needs of FIFO workers.

The refurbishment works were undertaken in a live operational environment, requiring careful planning and staged delivery to minimise disruption to residents. TEC Services managed the full scope of works, including project and HSEQ management, trade coordination, and client liaison.

Key upgrades included new patch and paint finishes, installation of wood grain flooring, smart TVs, LED lighting, plumbing fixture replacements, and the addition of black-out blinds, specifically selected to aid in fatigue management for shift workers. These improvements contribute to a more contemporary, durable, and worker-focused accommodation offering, aligned with Rio Tinto’s commitment to employee wellbeing.
